Our club meets weekly on Wednesdays, 7 AM to 8 AM for breakfast at Hoogland Center for the Arts, 420 S. Sixth Street, in historic downtown Springfield.  We're just two blocks from the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, and walking distance from the Lincoln Herndon Law Office, the Old State Capitol, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the State Capitol complex.  Come and visit!

Stop in for a make up and see the Lincoln sites while you are in town or doing business!

Club History
Compiled by John Forbes, PDG, Charter member, Club Historian
Rotary Club of Springfield-Sunrise met for the first time on February 4, 1987 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel at First and Adams. Thirty Two Charter Members formed the club. Currently there are three charter members still in our club – John Forbes, Charles Hammond and Mario Perrino. Bob Stuart, PRID, and the late John Giavaras, PDG were instrumental in helping form the club. On February 25, 1987 the Club adopted its Charter and By-Laws.
Our club received its charter on April 7, 1987, becoming the third chartered club in the history of Rotary in Springfield.
In June of 1987, Rotary Sunrise became the first club in Central Illinois to admit women to its membership. Patti Donsbach was the first female Rotarian in Springfield history becoming a member in July of 1987.
Rotary Sunrise was also the first Rotary Club in Springfield to elect a female club president. Eileen Montgomery served as our president for 18 months from January of 1997 through June of 1999.
